About Our Resources

Here is a selection of resources that you might find useful to aid you in your exploration, your preparation, your integration or your daily practice. By no means is this an exhaustive list of resources, just something to get you started and to stimulate you to do your own searching.

Practice

Meditation for preparation & integration

Meditation is a powerful companion on your psychedelic journey, supporting you in preparation, deepening the experience itself, and anchoring insights through ongoing integration.

And try to remember, meditation doesn’t have to mean 30 minutes cross-legged on a cushion. A single, mindful breath or a quiet moment of presence can be just as transformative. It’s about coming home to yourself — wherever you are.

Tara Brach’s podcast — a wonderful resource with a variety of guided meditations from 10 -30 minutes.

Headspace provide a good entry point to mindfulness and mediation.

Jack Kornfield’s podcast with teachings and meditations.

Create a life-changing meditation practice in less than 15 min a day with Mindfulness Daily. This is a 40-day online program led by Jack and Tara.

A quick self compassion meditation.

Reading

Recommended reading

Some highly recommended titles once you want to go further. As Nigel reads more, he continues to add titles here that he has found interesting.

How to Change Your Mind

By Michael Pollan

A great place to start for those of you that are curious and want some re-assurance before embarking on a psychedelic journey. I highly recommend this well written and easy to read account of Pollan’s personal exploration of psychedelics. A dedicated and curious piece of journalism putting himself in the testing seat, he provides a great background to the natural and cultural history of psychedelics before recounting his own guided experiences, and the the growing use of psychedelics in the treatment of mental illness.  If you want to read an abridged version of the book look on the media page and you will find Pollan’s piece from the New York Times which is taken from the book.

Food of the Gods

By Terrance McKenna

Terrance McKenna is considered by many to be one of the godfathers of the psychedelic movement.  His knowledge and eloquence is legendary.  I found this exploration of the history of human consciousness , plants, drugs and human evolution fascinating and a real page turner.

The following teachers have deeply supported this journey of self-discovery, spiritual growth, and expanded awareness. Each has offered guidance in different ways, and perhaps something here will resonate with your own path too.

Eckhart Tolle

Widely recognised as one of the most visionary spiritual teachers today. His teachings focus on the power of Presence, the awakened state that transcends ego. His books The Power of Now and A New Earth are highly enlightening.

Ram Dass

American spiritual teacher, psychologist, and author who helped popularise Eastern spirituality in the West. Before his spiritual path, he — then Richard Alpert — was a founding figure of psychedelic research in the 1960s, working alongside Timothy Leary at Harvard. His podcast library is a wonderful resource.

Josh Schrei & The Emerald Podcast

Josh is a mythteller, teacher, and lifelong student of the world’s cosmologies and mythologies. Through The Emerald, he explores myth, ritual, embodiment, and the animate imagination, offering a powerful invitation to rediscover wonder, meaning, and our deeper relationship with life.
